Description

The precision grade SPL meter “HTC SL-1350” is used for the field measurement consist of “1/2-inch microphone” and “1/3-octave filter” with the measuring level range and frequency range of 30– 130 dB, and 31.5 Hz – 8 kHz, respectively. The measurement accuracy and resolution are 1 dB and 0.1 dB, respectively. The instrument (HTC SL-1350) was calibrated before making measurements at each location. The research methodology adopted for environmental noise measurements was given in figure 5. Noise levels were recorded for day time (6:00 am – 10 pm) and night time (10:00 pm – 6:00 am) as per Indian standard time for measurement given by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), India. From the observation data, noise indices such as Leq (equivalent sound pressure level, A-weighted), Lmin (minimum noise level), Lmax (maximum noise level), the exceedance percentiles (L10, L50, L90), LN (Night Noise Levels), LD (Day Noise Levels), TNI (Traffic Noise Index), LNP (Noise Pollution Level), NC (Noise Climate), and NEI (Noise Emission Index) was calculated.
