Description

This Dataset support the gas-phase and particulate atmospheric emission inventory for Argentina in high spatial resolution (approx. 2.5 km × 2.5 km). Monthly pollutant emission maps for CO2, CH4, N2O, CO, NOx, NMVOC, NH3, SO2, PM10, PM2.5, TSP and BC between 1995 and 2020 are provided. The emission inventory includes the following sectors: energy production, fugitive emissions from oil and gas production, industrial fuel consumption and production, transport (road, maritime and air), agriculture, livestock production, residential, commercial and biomass burning. The whole dataset has been developed with the porpoise of contributing to various areas of research and governmental assessments, including air quality modeling and decision making, among others.

Files

Steps to reproduce

The two files contain information and data as described below: 1. Historical_activity_data.xlsx (Historical data from activity level for each sector, such as, fuel and energy consumption, number of vehicles, among others, used for each sector). 2. GEAA-AEIv3.0M.zip (This file contains the whole inventory dataset). The folder hierarchy of the dataset is organized according to each sector. Each file represents the emissions for a given sector and year with monthly variation. Each file filename has the following structure GEAA-AEIv3.0M_SSS_YYYY.nc where: - GEAA-AEI = Inventory's name - v3.0M = Inventory's version (M stands for Monthly Variation) - SSS = 3 characters for each of the 15 sectors, as specified in Sectors acronyms below - YYYY = 4 characters for specific year Each file in netCDF version 4 includes the following information: - Inventory name and version. - Sector - Year - Corresponding nomenclature to IPCC 2006 emission inventory guidelines - Publications related to GEAA-AEI inventory - GEAA-AEI inventory main author and partner institutions - Last update date Also, the following general variables and dimensions: - lat -> Latitude north - lon -> Longitude east - month -> Corresponging month's name (dimension) - gridID -> ID corresponging specific point in a 0.025°x0.025° resolution grid (lats between 20°S and 56°S, - lons between 75°W and 52°W) (dimension) - daysInMonth -> Quantity of days in months of given year (Depends on leap years) The group "COMPOUNDS_EMISSION/" contains the emission variables for each of the 12 individual species with gridID and month dimensions in the following format of 4 characters: - CO2_ -> Carbon dioxide (CO2) monthly emission - CH4_ -> Methane (CH4) monthly emission - N2O_ -> Nitrous oxide (N2O) monthly emission - NOX_ -> NOx (nitric oxide (NO) + nitrogen dioxide (NO2)) monthly emission - CO__ -> Carbon monoxide (CO) monthly emission - VOC_ -> Volatile organic compound (VOC) monthly emission - SO2_ -> Sulfur dioxide (SO2) monthly emission - NH3_ -> Ammonia (NH3) monthly emission - TSP_ -> Total suspended particles (TSP) monthly emission - PM10 -> Particulate matter 10 um or less (PM10) monthly emission - PM25 -> Particulate matter 2.5 um or less (PM2.5) monthly emission - BC__ -> Black carbon (BC) monthly emission Each variable in file specifies unit and standard name.
