Supporting dataset for "Climate risks and feedstock competition in São Paulo State's sugarcane bioenergy: the sucrose–fibre divide under an RCP 8.5-informed 2037 scenario
Description
Supplementary data and evidence base supporting the analysis of climate risks and feedstock competition in São Paulo State’s sugarcane bioenergy system. The files include sugarcane supply and projection data, product allocation and conversion parameters, climate forcing and crop-response factors, water-deficit scenarios, biomethane parameters, bioelectricity and second-generation ethanol data, land-use information, source provenance, and data-quality checks. The dataset supports the material-flow model and the low, central and high scenarios reported in the manuscript. Methane estimates represent gross methane potential rather than deliverable biomethane.

Steps to reproduce
The dataset can be used to reproduce the scenarios and results reported in the manuscript. Start with the sugarcane supply data and 2037 projection provided in the workbook. Apply the low, central and high climate factors for stalk yield and recoverable sugar per tonne of cane. Product outputs are then calculated using the conversion parameters provided for sugar, first-generation ethanol, bioelectricity, second-generation ethanol and gross methane potential. Sucrose and recoverable bagasse are subject to the allocation constraints specified in the supplementary material. Vinasse availability is linked to first-generation ethanol production, whereas filter-cake availability follows total cane throughput. The water-deficit sensitivity is reproduced using the corresponding scenario factors provided in the workbook. All input data, conversion coefficients, climate factors, sources and quality checks are documented in the individual workbook sheets and accompanying Supplementary Material. Methane results represent gross methane potential at standard conditions and do not include digester recovery, upgrading efficiency, methane slip or post-upgrading losses.
