Review list of experiments on wastewater remediation of BOD and COD using Hydroponic Vetiver System (HVS)

Description

The author employed the exploratory type research technique through the Grounded Literature Review Method (Dunne, 2011) to list 22 experiments on BOD reduction and 18 experiments on COD reduction in wastewater using the Hydroponic Vetiver System (HVS). The comprehensive list of 22 experiments is summarized in Table 1 below. Out of these 22 experiments, the author further identified 12 studies which clearly indicate either outlet BOD/COD data or percentage reduction data to tabulate the results. Studies that provided plant growth data only as an indicator of the phytoremediation capacity of HVS were not considered as the outlet BOD and COD data was missing. This list of 12 studies is summarized in Table 2 below.
