Survey Data from Young Healthcare Professionals in Myanmar on Biopsychosocial Model Adoption
Description
This dataset represents the findings of a qualitative study exploring how young healthcare professionals (aged 25-35) in Myanmar implement the biopsychosocial model in their clinical practices. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, structured surveys, and field observations in rural and underserved healthcare settings. The dataset includes qualitative responses regarding healthcare professionals' perceptions, challenges, and experiences with the model, as well as quantitative data on the frequency of its use across different healthcare roles. The study highlights barriers such as resource constraints, cultural resistance, and lack of training, and provides insights into the impact of the biopsychosocial model on patient care in these settings. This data is intended to support further research on the application of the biopsychosocial approach in low-resource healthcare environments.

Study Design and Participants [1] A qualitative study with 32 young healthcare professionals (aged 25-35), including doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals, working in rural and underserved areas of Myanmar. [2] Participants were selected using purposive sampling, ensuring at least three years of clinical experience. Data Collection [1] Interviews: Semi-structured interviews were conducted to explore participants' understanding and application of the biopsychosocial model. Interviews were 30-45 minutes long via online or in person, notes written by consent, and focused on themes like practical challenges and patient outcomes. [2] Surveys: A structured survey with Likert-scale questions was administered both on paper and via Google Forms to gather data on how often the model was used in clinical practice. [3] Observations: Field observations were carried out in healthcare settings to observe interactions between healthcare professionals and patients, specifically how the model was applied in patient care. Data Analysis [1] Qualitative Data: Thematic analysis was used to code interview transcripts and identify key themes such as cultural influence and resource constraints in rural areas. [2] Quantitative Data: Survey responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics to measure how frequently the biopsychosocial model was used and to identify barriers to implementation. Tools and Software [1] For data collection: Google Forms for online surveys, paper forms for in-person surveys, and written notes for interviews. [2] For data analysis: Thematic coding was done manually, and statistical analysis was performed using Excel.
