Description

Sustainable development in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) brings socio-ecological transitions among individual and society. Current Sustainable Assessment Tools (SATs) were unable to meet the needs of developing nations' HEIs. A developing nation like India with third largest education system needs a reporting body to track HEIs sustainability. This study developed a framework by analysing five SATs indicators through Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) which showed major contribution towards environmental. This framework aligns with SDGs, impacting each ESG segment. The highest impact was curbing emissions to 5.7 from 7.1 kgCO2eq. /capita/day. Incorporating this framework with a ranking body, like NIRF will enhance HEIs sustainability, aiding India's 2030 Agenda for SDGs.
