Description

Mineral data are presented for 16 stratigraphically selected samples. Appendix 1: Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)-Back Scattered Electron (BSE) images and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) mineral analyses of 16 samples that studied in detail and provided all the evidence for the science discussion in the paper. Appendix 2: The original RAMAN spectroscopy data that determined the silica polymorphs discussed in the paper. Appendix 3: SEM X-Ray maps of selected sites in the polished thin sections of the samples containing the best representative sites of manganese minerals Appendix 4: Electron Microprobe (EM) mineral analyses for a) better identification of the "Mn-Oxide" minerals present in the studied rocks; b) more accurate element determination of trace elements in the petrified wood sample.
