This study aims to establish a foundation for developing and implementing targeted psychotherapy strategies to address the most impacted aspects of health due to mysophobia. 520 college going students of different department. A self- administered questionnaire with an item content validity (I-CVI) of 0.8 and scale content validity (S-CVI) of 0.9 was circulated among college going students .The study revealed that among the total of 520 participants, 45.4% reported experiencing anxiety or fear related to germ-contaminated objects or situations. 31.9% expressed that mysophobia was impacting their job performance. 186 (38.5%) of the students observed themselves using too much hand wash or hand sanitizer whereas 134(25.4%) of the students were not sure that they used excessive hand sanitizer or doing too much hand washing while 202 (38.8%) were not used too much hand wash or hand sanitizer. According to another study overuse of alcohol-based hand sanitizers can result in drug resistance, adding to the already difficult workload for medical practitioners. Microorganisms can naturally evolve to become resistant to recurrent hand sanitizer usage when they are exposed to disinfectants, antibiotics, or other genotoxic substances. Extended contact with ethanol can result in skin cracking, dryness, and itching. Short-term skin contact can induce allergies and skin and eye irritation. According to a German study, ethanol consumption frequently may result in contact dermatitis or skin irritation. According to a 2018 study, using ethanol-based hand sanitizer regularly alters the concentration of uric acid and glyoxyuronic acid, and higher-than-normal production levels were noted.186 (38.5%) of the students observed themselves using too much hand wash or hand sanitizer whereas 134(25.4%) of the students were not sure that they used excessive hand sanitizer or doing too much hand washing while 202 (38.8%) were not used too much hand wash or hand sanitizer indicated that excessive hand washing was affecting their skin integrity and hindering their ability to attend to more patients. 44.6% of participants stated that limited cleanliness control in wards was impeding their activity participation in those areas and restricting their interaction with patients. Finally, 33.1% expressed a need for assistance or therapy to address work-related stress or anxiety, particularly stemming from mysophobia fears. mysophobia impairs general health and limits interaction 168 (32.3%) of the students ever come across a colleague who exhibited symptoms of mysophobia whereas 133(25.6%) of the students reported they were not sure that they found any colleague who exhibited symptoms of mysophobia while219 (42.1%) of the students not reported they found the colleague who exhibited symptoms of mysophobia. The reasons behind these percentages can be multifaceted and may depend on various factors such as individual experiences, perceptions, the nature of the environment .
