Adolescents’ Environmental Commitment: Significance of Family Functioning, and Spirituality, a Mediational Analysis

This study was done to explore the relationship between adolescent family functioning, spirituality, and their commitment to environment. We expected that family functioning and spirituality will have positive relationship with adolescent environmental commitment. Results supported the hypothesis. Further, mediational analysis showed spirituality mediated the relationship between family functioning and environmental commitment.

Steps to reproduce
872 rural adolescents aged 14 to 17 from Kerala, India, participated in the study. Brief Family Relationship Scale (BFRS), the Spiritual Well-being Scale (SWBS), and the Environmental Commitment Scale (COM), were used to collect data. Data were collected using self-report measures. Amos and SPSS programs were used for analysis.
