Dataset for the Feasibility of Patient-Centred Rehabilitation in Low-resource Settings

This data was obtained as part of a feasibility clinical trial using a trial within cohort design. The overarching aim of the clinical trial was twofold, being i) the study the feasibility of a minimalistic, community-based, pragmatic, 6-week patient-centred rehabilitation program for people with one of more non-communicable disease (i.e. cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease, diabetes, or cancer), and ii) the study the feasibility of using a trial within cohort design as a viable experimental study design for the use in low-resource settings. Data was collected at baseline, 8 weeks and 16 weeks for the entire enrolled cohort. A randomly selected subsample of the cohort was offered the experimental intervention and could make an informed decision as to their intend to participate in this intervention. Subsequently, data is presented across three groups: (i) Those that were not offered the intervention (i.e. control group), those that declined to participate, and those that agreed to participate in the rehabilitation intervention. The data presented may be particularly useful for those seeking to study complex interventions in a heterogeneous sample of patients with non-communicable disease, or those within to study rehabilitation models within low-resource settings. Data is included for the patient demographics, medical demographics and outcomes, measures of functional exercise capacity, and patient-reported outcomes.
