Description

The data were collected amongst 384 respondents working in construction sites throughout Langkawi Island, Malaysia who were approached to answer the self-administered questionnaire. The researcher utilised explanatory, descriptive, and hypothesis testing quantitative strategies to assess the relationship between worker-related safety climate and the dimensions of safety performance. To analysed the collected data, Smart PLS 3.0 and SPSS 21 software was equally used in assessing the measurement and structural model. From the data analyses, the hypotheses testing revealed that work-related safety climate represented by workers’ attitude, workers’ competence, and co-workers’ influence have significantly influenced construction’s workers safety performance dimensions namely safety compliance and safety participation.

Steps to reproduce

The researcher conducted face to face data collection procedure. using, a set of questionnaire which was developed adapted from previous studies (Kar & Hamid, 2013; Kines et al., 2011; Vinodkumar & Bhasi, 2010). The survey was distributed to be answered amongst 384 construction workers in Langkawi Island, Malaysia. The sample size was determine by Cohen’s Formula (Cohen, 1998). The questionnaire is provided as a supplementary file. All the items of the questionnaire were measured using five-point Likert scale(Likert, 1932).
