Description

This repository provides a quarterly cross-country panel dataset developed to examine the heterogeneous transmission of global supply pressures and geopolitical fragmentation into domestic inflation. The dataset covers 52 advanced, emerging, and developing economies from 2001Q1 to 2025Q4 and contains 5,200 country-quarter observations. The dataset integrates headline inflation, eight-quarter inflation volatility, real GDP growth, trade openness, logistics performance, government effectiveness, regulatory quality, global supply pressure, geopolitical fragmentation, corridor integration, and institutional coherence. It also includes the interaction variables used to estimate conditional inflation transmission across economies with different structural and institutional characteristics. The repository contains the raw and processed Excel datasets, a data dictionary, country-coverage information, source and variable documentation, R scripts, econometric outputs, publication-quality figures, replication instructions, session information, package-version records, and file-integrity checksums. The R workflow reproduces the panel audit, within-between variation decomposition, dynamic two-way fixed-effects estimates, Pesaran cross-sectional-dependence tests, two-way clustered inference, Driscoll-Kraay covariance estimates, CR2 corrections, wild cluster bootstrap tests, Common Correlated Effects estimators, sensitivity analyses, and panel local projections. A minimum-loss data-validation procedure preserves all 5,200 country-quarter rows. Thirty-seven mathematically inadmissible inflation observations were identified and temporarily treated as missing, leaving 5,111 observations in the preferred dynamic estimation sample. These observations remain subject to source-level verification and official replacement. Users should therefore consult the data-quality documentation and replacement template before treating the current processed dataset as final. The repository supports replication of the empirical analysis associated with the study of structural inflation asymmetry, corridor integration, institutional coherence, and the uneven pass-through of global shocks.

Steps to reproduce

1. Download and extract the file “Structural_Inflation_Asymmetry_Replication_v1_0_0.zip” while preserving the internal folder structure. 2. Install R and RStudio. The analysis was developed in R 4.6.0. Required package names and the original package versions are listed in the folder “05_environment”. 3. Open the extracted replication folder as the working directory in RStudio. Do not rename or move the internal data, code, output, or documentation folders after extraction. 4. Run the master replication file: source("02_code/00_run_all.R") 5. The master file imports the Excel data, performs the data audit, applies the minimum-loss inflation correction, reconstructs lagged inflation and eight-quarter inflation volatility, generates the panel variation decomposition, and estimates the complete empirical workflow. 6. The reproduced workflow includes country and quarter fixed-effects models, Pesaran cross-sectional-dependence diagnostics, serial-correlation and heteroskedasticity tests, two-way country-quarter clustered inference, Driscoll-Kraay covariance estimates, CR2 corrections, wild cluster bootstrap tests, Common Correlated Effects estimators, subsample and placebo analyses, leave-one-country-out tests, winsorized sensitivity analysis, inflation-volatility models, and panel local projections. 7. Newly reproduced tables, model summaries, figures, logs, and session information will be written to: 03_output/reproduced/ 8. After the main script has completed, run: source("02_code/03_verify_reproduction.R") This file checks whether the principal expected results, workbooks, summaries, and figures have been reproduced successfully. 9. The processed dataset retains all 5,200 country-quarter rows. Thirty-seven mathematically invalid inflation cells are temporarily coded as missing under the minimum-loss procedure. Verified official replacement values may be entered in: 01_data/metadata/REV_official_inflation_replacements.xlsx After entering verified values and source details, rerun “02_code/00_run_all.R” to reconstruct inflation lags, volatility measures, models, tables, and figures. 10. Consult “README.md”, “README_FIRST.txt”, and “07_documentation/REPLICATION_GUIDE.md” for the file structure, variable definitions, data-quality qualifications, and detailed replication instructions.
