Global indicators for pedestrian streets by city

Description

This dataset contains two indicators regarding pedestrianized roads in several cities around the globe. Namely, the dataset describes the "Total length of Pedestrian Streets (km)" and the "Share of Pedestrian Streets (%)" by city. We used OpenStreetMap (OSM) geospatial data and integrate the EU and OECD definition of cities to create comparable global indicators. The results reveal a chasm in car-free development mainly between Southern and Western European cities and their peers in other continents.
