Global demographic change and climate policies
Description
Replication package for Gerlagh, Jaimes, and Motavasseli, "Global demographic change and climate policies". The paper develops an overlapping-generations climate–economy model in which the demographic transition shifts the equilibrium discount factor at which a competitive economy values future climate damages, and quantifies the resulting movement in the social cost of carbon under UN WPP 2024 demographic projections. The package contains all Stata do files, input data, and instructions required to reproduce every figure and table in the main text and appendices. Data sources include UN World Population Prospects 2024, the World Bank World Development Indicators, the Worldwide Governance Indicators, the OECD Environmental Policy Stringency index, the Yale 2024 Environmental Performance Index, and Barro–Lee educational attainment.
