Description

These data in SPSS format comprise the information of nursing mothers under the study title "knowledge and practice of complementary feeding among the mothers of children aged 6–24 months in Dar es Salam, Tanzania." This data has the following research hypothesis: 1. The age of the mother is associated with the initiation of complementary foods below the age of 6 months. 2. Education of the mother has a positive influence on knowledge and feeding practices. 3. Household income influences meal frequency 4. The occupation of mothers has a positive influence on the feeding practices of mothers. 5. Involvement of the father in the feeding of the child may help to increase the timely introduction of complementary foods. This data is a community, household-based cross-sectional study that was conducted among healthy nursing mothers who have children in the age group of 06–24 months in the Kinondoni municipal area, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The study was conducted from February 2022 to March 2022, where multistage sampling was used to select study participants. This data can be used to analyze knowledge, practice, and associated factors for complementary feeding among nursing mothers who have children of the age group 6-24 months in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Steps to reproduce

Design and data collection A community, household-based cross-sectional study was conducted among healthy nursing mothers who have children in the age group of 06–24 months in the Kinondoni municipal area, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The study was conducted from February 2022 to March 2022, where multistage sampling was used to select study participants. Ethical clearance for this study was taken from the School Level Research Committee (SLRC), School of Public Health, KIIT Deemed to be University and KIMS ethical committee, The ethical committee clearance letter has the following reference, ref: KIIT / KIMS / IEC / 832 / 2022. Moreover, at the district level, the research approval was obtained and the Municipal Medical Officer issued the approval letter with reference no: KMC / HEALTH /RS. 09 /24 in February 2022. Data was collected in Google form by a researcher and then was extracted into an excel sheet. Data cleaning was conducted in excel and thereafter the data was entered into SPSS.
