Description

Microcosm experiments of Paxillus involutus growing on muscovite, phlogopite and K-exchanged vermiculite as K sources were carried out for 21 days. The intention of the study is to investigate the several metabolic routes that the fungus followed for K extraction and transport. All minerals were partly dissolved and there were signs of surface alteration, especially in phlogopite and K-vermiculite. In this database, there are two files: 1) chemical results from ICP-AES of the fungal mycelium and Agar, as well as pH measurements on the Agar. 2) SEM-EDS results of the chemistry of the surface of the minerals, investigated with two different microscopes and experimental conditions. Analyses include data before the experiments and after the experiments, as well as analyses of samples used as standards to calibrate the results.
