Schematic illustration of the formation process and synergic adsorption-photocatalysis property of the as-obtained hierarchical MgAl-LDH(CLDH)/g-C3N4: Formation of g-C3N4 by thermal decomposition of urea (a), growth of freely standing MgAl-LDH nanosheet on g-C3N4 (b), conversion of LDH to CLDH (c), CR enrichment around g-C3N4 by CLDH (d), diffusion of CR toward g-C3N4 derived by CR concentration gradient and photodegradation of CR that were adjacent to g-C3N4 under simulated sunlight irradiation (e), and completely degradation of CR (f).
