Description

This article contains aeromagnetic data originally sourced as two separate sheets from Nigeria Geological Survey Agency (NGSA). The two datasets of aeromagnetic sheets have been combined for easy accessibility and availability and also first stage data processing was carried out to produce the residual magnetic intensity data. The file attached to this article is the combined aeromagnetic datasets of sheets 266 and 267 (Auch and Idah), for mineral and groundwater resource potential in the Benin- Arm Anambra basin. The raw data attached to this article is in presented in excel format (‘dot CSV). The pre-processed datasets are represented as gridded image in GRD file (‘dot GRD’) for the combine sheets. The first stage processed data which is the residual magnetic intensity image is attached in JPEG file (‘dot JPG). Caesium vapour magnetometer (3 Sintrex CS3) mounted on fixed-wing aircraft Cessna 406 ZS-SSC was used for data acquisition. Oasis Montaj Geosoftware was used process the aeromagnetic dataset which for can be to determine anomalous geologic and hydrogeology structures among other applications of the data. First stage data analysis was also carried out on the data to produce the residual magnetic intensity data. Further filtering analysis can be applied on the residual magnetic intensity to produce other images. Images produced after applying various mathematical filters on the data can be used for detailed characterization of the study area to pin point potential areas for mineral and groundwater exploration.
