Description

This database is from a research that focuses on the structure of consumer preferences for chicken eggs – a category increasingly influenced by sustainable considerations – to identify how strongly sustainable features shape individuals’ choices compared to other criteria. 550 Brazilian consumers answered a self-administered online survey containing a 12-items goal-orientated scale to identify consumers’ main goal frame, followed by a choice experiment with 12 repeated alternatives for egg choice. The choice design considered five egg attributes: Production System (Poultry farm/Cage-Free), Tray Material (Plastic/Cardboard/Styrofoam), Point of Purchase (Growers Market/Neighborhood Store/Supermarket), Label (No Label/Organic Label/Animal Well-being Label) and Price (three levels). Respondents had to think of a hypothetical purchase of a 10-egg units pack, considering diverse alternative features.
