Does anthropogenic noise effect affect the acoustic courtship interactions of Gryllus bimaculatus?

To test the affect anthropogeic noise has when connflictig with acoustic courtship signals, we conducted behavioural observations of courtship interactions of the Mediterranean field cricket, Gryllus bimaculatus, under different acoustic conditions. We recorded several behaviours including sigalling attempts, mating attempts, duartion of courtship, mate gaurding behaviours (judders), as well as spectral and temporal aspects of the courtship songs produced. Data on cricket anatomy was also collected (for both the males and females). Our findings show that the acoustic condition can affect courtship signal production in this species.
