Description

This repository contains the dataset and supporting tables for a study of 98 student-produced adaptations of Ang Paglilitis ni Mang Serapio published on YouTube between 2008 and 2025. The main file (sheet Dataset, 98 valid cases) records for each video the URL, number of views, likes, comments, subscribers, an engagement index ((comments + likes)/views), institutional source (school/university), year, duration, language, and format (trailer, short film, full film). It further includes binary codings (0/1) for 10 narrative themes (e.g., violence, family and love, death, oppression/bullying) and for techniques of cinematography, editing, sound, and narration (e.g., cross-cutting, static camera, amplified and asynchronous sound, flashback, voice-over). Sheets Table 1 and Table 2 document definitions, levels, and examples of each variable to ensure replicability. The dataset underpins the descriptive and inferential analyses (Mann–Whitney U tests and stepwise regression) reported in the linked article and enables further exploration of cultural participation and vernacular creativity in digital educational contexts.
