CaLaTiFeO6 ferromagnetic-semiconductor data
Description
CaLaTiFeO6 material was produced by the standard solid reaction method. Analysis of its crystallographic structure which reveals its monoclinic perovskite type nature (space group P21/n, #14), its morphological strongly granular characteristics, its optical response which reveals its semiconducting character with bandgap Eg=0.61 eV and its ferromagnetic property at temperatures T>350 K are reported. Likewise, calculations and analysis of the elec-tronic properties of the material are performed through Density Functional Theory, which are in agreement with the experimental results.

CaLaTiFeO6 samples were obtained by solid state reaction method from high purity (≥ 99.99%) precursor oxides of CaCO3, La2O3, Fe2O3, and TiO2, which were dried at 100 oC for 10 min, weighed in stoichiometric proportions, mixed in an agate mortar, milled for 3 h and pressed in shaped like tablets of 10.1 mm diameter and 3.0 mm thickness on 45 kN pressure. After a heat treatment of calcination at 500 oC for 12 h, the sample was re-pulverised, ground for 30 min and pressed again, repeating the pelletizing process and making similar thermal treatments for temperatures of 700 °C, 850 °C, 900 °C and 1100 °C
