Description

The dataset was extracted from the 2018 Nigeria Demographic Health Survey (NDHS) conducted by ICF, USA in collaboration with the Nigeria National Population Commission (NPC). The survey provided information about demographic characteristics, sexuality and other reproductive health indicators among men and women of reproductive age in separate data files. The data was extracted by dropping the data of women who had less than 4 children and those whose responses to question about fertility intention were different from "wanted more" and "wanted no more" from the main dataset of the 38,000 women who were interviewed in the Survey. By applying the weighting factor to adjust for cases of under- and over-sampling, the dataset used for the study was approximately 12,202. The data was analysed with the aid of Stata 15 to examine the predictors of fertility preference among women who had at least 4 children. The tested predictors were socio-demographic characteristics including husband's desire for more children.
