Description

This dataset includes two files required to initialize a single-column model (SCM) for running the highly supercooled Antarctic cloud case study based on remote-sensing measurements from the AWARE field campaign (see Silber et al., 2019, doi:10.1029/2019JD030882): 1. SCM_AWARE_init.nc - initial sounding and surface variables. 2. SCM_AWARE_force.nc - vertical motion profile time series.

Steps to reproduce

To run this SCM case study, use the two model initialization files, set the coordinates to -77.85 S, 166.72 E, and prescribe a monomodal log-normal aerosol particle concentration of 20 $cm^-3 with a mean radius of 0.1 um, geometrical standard deviation of 2, and a hygroscopicity parameter of 0.4. Note that activated INP concentrations should not be prescribed in this SCM simulations.
