Research data and code for "Guidance on large scale hydrologic model calibration with isotope tracers", Holmes, T., Stadnyk, T., Asadzadeh, M., and Gibson, J.J. (2023). MC: • Data: o Random parameter values (rand_par_set.mat) o Calculated performance metric values (Qstats_allMC.mat and ISOstats_allMC.mat)  Unprocessed time-series stored but are approximately 100GB for MC alone • Scripts/code: o Generate parameters (MC_atha.m) o Data extract from raw output (MC_datareader_VM.m) o Calculate performance, used on extracted time-series  Script loading t-series files and calling perf function (QstatsCalc_script.m IsostatsCalc_script.m)  Performance stats calculating functions (QstatsCalc.m, ISOstatsCalcv2.m) o Identifiability (GLUE_script_v2.m, GLUE_script_ISO_v2.m)  Normalize parameters (normalize_pars.m) o Non-dominated filtering (surviving example for 3 flow objectives: nondom_script.m, DominanceFilter.m written by Dr Asadzadeh) VARS: • Data: o Sampled parameter values (200stars.xlsx) o Calculated performance metric values (Qresp_all.mat, I2Hresp_all_new.mat, I18Oresp_all_new.mat, IsoSlopeStats_all_new.mat) o VARS output (VARS HQ for cal.mat) o IVARS50 results copied to excel (IVARS50 for HQ.xlsx) • Scripts/code/input files: o STAR sampling input (factorSpace.txt, VARS_inp.txt) o Data extract from raw output (data_process_script.m, completed in stages) o Calculate performance (QstatScript.m, I2HstatScript.m, I18OstatScript.m, SlopeRespScript.m, ISOrespFrameCalc.m, QstatsCalc.m, ISOrespCalc.m) o Combine performance as response variable (calHQavg_script.m) MOO: • Data: o Non-dominated solutions (Ost out, ND solutions in .xlsx by objective and output files for each trial; ISOstats and Qstats.m files contain performance stat results) o Behavioral hydrographs and tracer (all time series files provided here, BIDpars/second objective/set internal ID number, spl contains flow data, iso_2H and iso_18O isotope time series, tracer contains virtual tracer results) o Ensemble performance (ensembleStatsBIDv2.xlsx) • Scripts/code/input files: o OST input files (Init files, with all OSTRICH initial files) o Data extract from raw output (MC_datareader_VM.m, MC_extract_script.m as sample) o Calculate performance (Optimization version: statscript.R, final summary: NONDom_stat_script.m) o Ensemble evaluations (BID_ensemble_statsv2.m)
