Description

In this study, we have developed and tested a solar energy dryer unit equipped with biomass-fueled air heater. The drier which has been made consists of a drying chamber length of 260 cm and width of 80 cm, with glass as cover. The dryer is equipped with a crossflow type heat exchanger for air heaters by utilizing biomass fuel. In this test used 25 kg of dried fish starting the morning at 09:00 to 16:00 utilizing solar energy, from 16: 00-06: 00 using hot air maintained at temperature 40-50oC. From the test results obtained, after reaching 22-23 hours of drying, the weight of the fish did not change much, and it can be stated that the fish has dried at the final weight of 12.5 kg.
