This cross-sectional study was conducted in Shandong Province. Shandong is a major province in east China with a vast area and large population [18]. This study used a multi-stage stratified sampling method. First, three prefectures (Jinan, Weifang, and Liaocheng) were selected based on geographical location and socio-economic status. Second, one district or county were selected in each city. Third, three street or town-ships were selected in each district or county, respectively. Fourth, three villages were selected in each street or township, respectively. A total of 27 rural villages were selected as sample areas. Finally, 25 patients with type 2 diabetes were random-ly surveyed in each village. The inclusion criteria of diabetic patients were diagnosis of diabetes mellitus by the clinician. Diabetes patients with mental illness, commu-nication difficulties and cognitive impairment were excluded. Participants were convened in community health service stations or village clinics for one-on-one questioning by trained investigators. All questions in the question-naire are filled out by the investigators, and both questioning and questionnaire fill-ing were conducted simultaneously. This study was approved by the Ethics Commit-tee of the School of Public Health, Shandong University (LL20221120). All partici-pants were voluntary to join the survey and provided written informed consent at the beginning of the study.Psychological resilience was measured using the 10-item Connor-Davidson Resili-ence Scale (CD-RISC1-10).Social support was measured using the Social Support Review Questionnaire (SSRS), which was developed by Shuiyuan Xiao.Stigma was measured using the Type 2 Diabetes Stigma Assessment Scale (DSAS-2).
