A case study is here adopted in order to show how to design and use the strategic innovation framework. The case study was implemented on the swine sector of Colombia. The swine sector has a high potential for the development of economy in Colombia (Porkcolombia, 2019); however, it does not have enough technological development and knowledge transfer as well as government subsidies which support it (Trujillo-Díaz et al., 2019). The swine market in Colombia is set by importers, producers and small pig farmers (Ministerio de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural, 2019). The small pig farmers have many limitations due to the lack of technology, high production cost, lack of resources, and production and training incentives, those are central issues to encourage pork commercialization along with quality, biosecurity, and traceability (Herrera, Vargas, et al., 2018; Rodriguez-Takeuchi and Imai, 2013). Although small pig farms want to increase innovation processes, they do not have enough economic resources to develop technologies to improve their performance. Thus, the modeling is aimed to identify whether innovation strategies based on innovation functions could increase SC performance. These data present alternatives generated for eight experiments.
