Public data and code for Mapping Cross-Country Technological Proximity with Patent Text

Description

This dataset contains the public data and replication code for the manuscript submitted to Research Policy. The main output file is patent_text_proximity_pair_year_2008_2017_RP.dta, with an identical CSV version also provided.

Steps to reproduce

Download and unzip RP_public_data_and_code_A.zip. The main dataset is in 02_public_data/patent_text_proximity_pair_year_2008_2017_RP.dta, with an identical CSV version in the same folder. To reproduce the validation tables and figures, run 03_replication_code/02_reproduce_validation_outputs.R from the package root. The BigQuery SQL file in 03_replication_code documents the construction of the underlying patent-text measures from Google Patents public data.
