Description

Pressure data is in kPa, by hand region and for each subject. Values were obtained by the mean of the peak pressure at each impulse (hand contact to propel the wheelchair) in each segment. The data was collected for both hands with Tekscan Grip Versatek Wireless System at 50Hz. The sensors were attached to a thin textile glove (helanca glove). Only male, adults (18 to 29 years old) and able bodied subjects performed the activities. No one reported MSDs symptoms up to 12 months prior the experiment.

Steps to reproduce

Draw the path (path.svg) on a flat, regular floor. A wheelchair model Star Lite from Ortobrás was used (for comparative purposes). Make a demonstration of how to propel the wheelchair in both straight motion and the turns. Let the subject perform a test lap without the measurement system. Couple the glove system to the subjects hands. Instruct the subject to maintain the middle of the wheelchair aligned with the path (for reference). Specify no time limit, let the individual take his time to complete. More details are in the thesis linked to this dataset (in portuguese).
