Description

The COVID-19 vaccinations are used as an optimal measure to contain and effectively end the pandemic in the long run. It is a fact that vaccination rates in many developing and underdeveloped countries worldwide remain very low. While it takes a long time to achieve herd immunity and the vaccination rate is closely connected with the acceptance rate, understanding people’s intent on getting vaccines for COVID-19 remains limited. This study aims to improve the understanding of residents’ perceptions of COVID-19 vaccines and willingness to participate in vaccination programs in the Red River Delta, Vietnam’s most densely populated area, thus being widely regarded as a potential disease epicenter. In March 2021, an online survey was randomly conducted in 10 provinces, including Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Ha Noi, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thai Binh, Vinh Phuc. A total of 1116 adults representing 1116 households in different provinces voluntarily joined this investigation. This article offers a unique and useful dataset on four main components: (1) residents’ perceptions of the COVID-19 pandemic; (2) their understanding of the COVID-19 vaccine; (3) their willingness to opt for the COVID-19 vaccine; and (4) respondents’ demographic information. The initial findings and dataset of the study contribute to keeping policymakers, governments, and vaccine companies informed of well-founded figures for people’s willingness to participate in the COVD-19 vaccination, which helps devise desirable vaccination policies to conquer the COVID-19 pandemic successfully.
