in the present study, the effect of gastric bypass surgery on the oxidative and antioxidant status of morbidly obese people was investigated.

Steps to reproduce

This prospective cohort study was performed on 35 patients aged between 18 – 54 years old (25 women and 10 men) with morbid obesity (average body mass index (BMI): 42.06kg/m2). Plasma levels of total antioxidant capacity(TAC), total oxidant status(TOS), reduced glutathione(GSH), malondialdehyde(MDA), C-reactive protein(CRP), and biochemical factors were measured one day before and 4 months after surgery.
