Description

This study aimed to examine the relationship between attachment anxiety and problematic use of conversational artificial intelligence (PUCAI) and its intrinsic mechanisms -- the mediating effect of emotional attachment and the moderating effect of anthropomorphic tendencies. Using scales for attachment anxiety, emotional attachment, anthropomorphic tendency, and PUCAI, we conducted a study involving 504 adults. The results indicate that (1) attachment anxiety positively predicts PUCAI; (2) anthropomorphic tendencies moderate the relationship between attachment anxiety and PUCAI; and (3) this moderation is partly realized through the mediating variable of emotional attachment. This study reveals the mechanisms underlying the relationship between attachment anxiety and PUCAI, highlights individual differences, and provides a new perspective for preventing and controlling addictive behaviors in individuals with attachment anxiety.
