Perils of the Paleocene: vertebrate and invertebrate induced bioerosion in freshwater turtles from Tiupampa, Bolivia (early Paleocene)
Description
This repository contains the supplementary material associated with the article "Perils of the Paleocene: vertebrate and invertebrate induced bioerosion in freshwater turtles from Tiupampa, Bolivia (early Paleocene)", published in the Journal of Paleontology. The files are as follows: 1. S1 .Turtle body size measurements.xlsx - Linear measurements of Tiupampan turtle measurements used for estimating body sizes. Ent - entoplastron, P - peripheral, Xip - xiphiplastron. 2. S2. Turtle size equations.docx - Regression equations used to reconstruct body sizes for Tiupampan turtles 3. S3. Karethraichnus dimensions.xlsx - Measurements of length, width and depth (where possible) in mm, for all ichnofossils identified as Karethraichnus in the freshwater turtles from Tiupampa. 4. S4. Sebecid bite force estimates.xlsx - Measurements of dorsal cranium length, frontal length, and mandibular symphysis length used to predict total body length, body mass and bite force in sebecids (including those from Tiupampa). 5. S5. Dyrosaurid bite force estimates.xlsx - Measurements of mandibular and maxillary mean interalveolar spacing, mandibular symphysis length, total mandibular length, and dorsal cranium length used to predict total body length, body mass and bite force in dyrosaurids (including those from Tiupampa). Bite force is separately calculated using the all-crocodylian equation of Erickson et al. (2012) and a gharial-only equation to account for dyrosaurid longirostry. 6. S6. Crocodyliform size equations.docx - Regression equations used for estimating skull length from mandibular symphysis length (in sebecids) and mandibular interalveolar length (in dyrosaurids). Dorsal cranium length was then used to predict body mass.
