  • SLEEP QUALITY
Sleep disorders are a frequent complaint among peri and postmenopausal women. Hormonal changes and vasomotor symptoms related to these periods contributes to poor sleep quality, which is associated with increased metabolic and cardiovascular risk, depression and global impairment of health status Objective: To assess sleep quality identifying the different sleep disorders (insomnia, hypersomnia, and breathing disturbances) observed in postmenopausal women and to assess the related factors Subjects & Methods: 195 postmenopausal women were included in a cross-sectional study that was carried out in a tertiary hospital in Buenos Aires (Argentina). Sociodemographic, gynecological and clinical characteristics of the subjects were recorded and data related to sleep were assessed with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), and the Oviedo Sleep Quality Questionnaire (COSS). Conclusion: Dissatisfaction with sleep is a common complaint during postmenopausal years and almost one in two women referred impaired sleep quality requiring in most cases medical attention.

  • Data for: Severity and duration of menopausal symptoms after risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy
In this database, information on 199 women who underwent risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy (RRSO) is presented. The database was used to investigate the severity and duration of menopausal symptoms after RRSO in women with a BRCA1/2 mutation with the Menopause Rating Scale (MRS). The scores on the MRS were also investgiated per subscale: the psychological, somato-vegetative and urogenital subscale. With this database, descriptive statistics and logistic regression analyses can be performed. Variables in the database are connected to an ID-number. Variables presented in the database are: Patient characteristics; mutation type, age at RRSO, age at time of the questionnaire, time since RRSO, BMI, smoking, alcohol use, employment, physical activity, HRT use (current and past). Breast cancer history; yes/no, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, time since diagnosis. MRS; total score, scores per subscales.

  • Data for: Cognitive impairment and the association between frailty and functional deficits are linked to abdominal obesity in the elderly: effect of gender
This file includes the data collected in the original latest representative national survey of the Israeli elderly conducted in 2005-2006. Several values were deleted because of their irrelevance while others were formed on the basis of the available data (such as co-morbidities, estimated frailty status, obesity states and others). Pay attention - data on 45 subjects were deleted from this file due to potential report bias (their cognitive score, assessed by Mini-mental state examination were lower than 17 - a clear indication for risk to cognitive dysfunction). Also, attached the original code-book of the survey describing the different variables collected in the survey, their measurement level and the full description of the question and its answers.
