MiCS-5524 carbon monoxide sensor data acquisition

Description

This dataset contains long-term outdoor measurements acquired in Oran, Algeria, starting in January 2024, using a MiCS-5524 gas sensor configured for carbon monoxide monitoring. The gas-sensor response is provided as raw 10-bit ADC counts rather than calibrated ppm concentrations. Temperature in °C and relative humidity in % are also included. The first column contains the internet-based date and time of each acquisition, and the second column contains the MAC address of the ESP-01 Wi-Fi module used to transmit UDP packets to a router and then to Google Sheets. The acquisition system was initially based on a STM32F103C8 “Blue Pill” board. Later, the microcontroller was replaced by an ultra-low-power STM32L073CZfor improved long-term operation, keeping the same PCB.

Steps to reproduce

The data were acquired using a MiCS-5524 gas sensor connected to an STM32-based low-power datalogger. The sensor output was read through the microcontroller ADC and stored as raw 10-bit numerical counts. Temperature and relative humidity were measured simultaneously. Each measurement was timestamped using internet-based date and time information. The data packet was transmitted by an ESP-01 Wi-Fi module using UDP to a router, then forwarded to Google Sheets for long-term storage. The acquisition was performed outdoors in open air in Oran, Algeria, starting in January 2024. To reproduce the dataset, assemble the same sensor/logger configuration, power the device continuously, place it in an outdoor open-air location, acquire the MiCS-5524 ADC output together with temperature and humidity, timestamp each record, and export the resulting table in the same column format.
