CBAS
Description
To address these questions, the study adopts the Cyberbullying Attitude Scale (CBAS), originally developed by Barlett et al. (2016). The CBAS contains nine items split into two subscales: Harmful Cyberbullying Attitudes (HCA), consisting of five items, and General Cyberbullying Characteristics (GCC), consisting of four items. The scale consists of a five-point Likert scale ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). The CBAS has demonstrated high reliability across multiple studies (with alpha values ranging from 0.71 to 0.94 for the HCA subscale) and has been shown to predict actual cyberbullying perpetration above and beyond older instruments. CBAS is a reliable tool for this study because it demonstrates strong reliability and predictive validity across studies, predicts cyberbullying behaviour significantly better than older instruments and psychometrically validated across three studies.
