Description

The dataset includes trait measurements and the phylogeny of 56 co-occurring grassland herbs. The phylogeny was constructed using V.PhyloMaker (Jin & Qian 2019, doi: 10.1111/ecog.04434). Research hypotheses and data collecting are described in the paper: Albert et al. (2021) Seed production of co-occurring species: regenerative strategies, plant economic spectrum or architectural constraints? Basic and Applied Ecology (pending acceptance) ### Files # traits.txt Traits (table column names): prod_per_shoot: average species seed number per shoot (log-transformed) seed_mass: average species seed mass (log-transformed) n_ind: the number of measured individuals per species Canopy: average species canopy height (log-transformed) LDMC: average species leaf dry matter content SLA: average species specific leaf area (log-transformed) Leaf_N: average species leaf nitrogen content Leaf_size: average species leaf size (log-transformed) Cyclicity: species cyclicity (indicating shoot lifespan) Spread: average species lateral spread Persistence: average species persistence (indicating the persistence of connection between parent and offspring ramets) Clonal: 0/1 indicating whether a species is clonal or not Offspring: average species multiplication rate Longevity: annual vs. perennial seed_yield: average species seed yield (seed mass * seed number) (log-transformed) met_size: metamer size (log-transformed) # phylo.txt Species phylogeny (newick format)
