Total soil DNA was extracted from 0.5 g of soil using the DNeasy PowerLyzer PowerSoil Kit (Qiagen, CA, USA), according to the manufacturer's instructions. The quality of the DNA was checked through of spectrophotometry (Nanodrop ND-1000) and electrophoresis (0.8% agarose gel). The V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene was amplified using the Platinum Taq polymerase High Fidelity (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, CA, USA) and primer set 515F (5'-GTGCCAGCMGCCGCGGTAA-3’) and 806R (5'-GGACTACHVHHHTWTCTAAT-3’) (Caporaso et al., 2011), according to the following program: 95°C for 4 min, 60°C for 1 min, 72°C for 2 min, followed by 25 cycles at 94°C for 1 min, 60°C for 1 min, and 72°C for 2 min. PCR concentration was measured by Qubit™ fluorometer (Invitrogen 2.0), purified using calibrated Agencourt AMPure XP beads (Beckman Coulter, Brea, CA, USA) and paired-end sequenced using an Illumina MiSeq Reagent Kit v2 (300-cycles, 2 × 150 bp) into an Illumina MiSeq sequencer (Illumina, 2013) at the Genomic and Bioinformatic Facility Centre (CeGenBio) of the Federal University of Ceara, Brazil.
