Description

We developed two regional paleoclimate indexes for assessing summer monsoon effect in the source region of the Yangtze River (central Qinghai-Tibet Plateau). The Indian Monsoon Index (IMI) was created by averaging TOC and TIC records, while the effective moisture index (EMI) was obtained by averaging mean size grade MG (φ) and TIC after normalizing these three proxies. The sequence is long ~13,000 years.

Steps to reproduce

We utilized mean size grade MG (φ) to create effective moisture index. The mean size (μm) and mean size grade MG (φ) are two parameters for the same proxy assessing grain size of lake sediments.
