Description

This data was generated as part of a prospective pilot clinical trial aimed to establish measurable outcomes for biofeedback-based virtual reality (VR-BF), a novel pain management therapy, impacting a treatment protocol for preoperative education and training and postoperative application of VR-BF in the pediatric population. Achievement of target physiological parameters, including heart rate variability (HRV), was measured in children and adolescents undergoing surgery anticipated to cause moderate to severe pain (e.g., orthopedic, chest) requiring postoperative pain management by the Acute Pain Services at a tertiary care, academic, pediatric hospital. This dataset includes analyzed quantitative data and raw qualitative data.
