Description

This spreadsheet and associated picture files describes key characteristics of juvenile ontogeny in juvenile freshwater pearl mussels (Margaritifera margaritifera) mainly between the ages of 1 - 44 months old. Data about the gill structure of a single adult mussel (M. margaritifera) is also included. This dataset particularly focuses on ctenidia ontogeny but also includes information on mantle, foot and labial palp morphology at different ages and sizes. Details of specimen age, shell length, presence/absence and number of inner and outer demibranch filaments are recorded as standard and additional information about other significant features are also included.
