Description

This dataset comprises anonymized clinical and laboratory data from 349 elderly patients (aged 65 years and older) diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in the emergency department of a tertiary care hospital. The dataset was developed to evaluate and compare the prognostic performance of established clinical scoring systems (PSI and CURB-65) and inflammation/nutrition-based indices including the Glasgow Prognostic Score (GPS), Modified Glasgow Prognostic Score (mGPS), and the C-reactive protein to albumin ratio (CAR). Variables include demographic characteristics, comorbidities (e.g., dementia, neoplasm, COPD), vital signs, blood gas results, inflammatory markers, and clinical outcomes such as 30-day mortality and ICU admission. This dataset supports the replication of statistical analyses including ROC curve comparisons, logistic regression modeling, and subgroup evaluations. It aims to assist researchers in validating and developing prognostic tools for geriatric patients presenting with infectious respiratory diseases in emergency settings.

Steps to reproduce

To reproduce the main findings, users can calculate CURB-65, PSI, GPS, mGPS, and CAR scores based on the provided clinical and laboratory variables. Statistical analysis including ROC curve comparison, logistic regression, and subgroup evaluation can be performed using SPSS, R, or Python. The data is anonymized and structured for direct use in predictive model development or validation.
