Description

A new OpenFOAM® based solver was developed for simulating multiphase fluid flow, consisting of two-miscible liquid phases with different temperatures and densities in a free-surface condition. The solver was named interMixingTemperatureFoam and was developed by programming the energy equation in terms of the temperature field on the preexisting OpenFOAM® interMixingFoam native solver. Following the solvers’ name convention in OpenFOAM®, the solver was named interMixingTemperatureFoam, where “interMixing” stands for the ability to solve the interaction between 3 incompressible fluids, two of which are miscible, and “Temperature” stands for the implementation of the energy equation in terms of the temperature field. Turbulence models, mesh generation schemes, and other generic utilities are available as part of the OpenFOAM® toolbox for case setting and running. This data set contains the required files to implement interMixingTemperatureFoam in OpenFOAM® v. 4.0. For different OpenFOAM® versions, the user can use this data set as guidance. A folder with an example of a case set is also included. This Data set is associated with the MDPI Water paper "CFD Simulations of Multiphase Flows: Interaction of Miscible Liquids with Different Temperatures".
