Spectral properties of 16 peatland plant species and litter
Description
This dataset contains reflectance and transmittance data for 16 dominant peatland vascular plant species measured in Finland and Estonia, along with reflectance measurements for peatland litter measured as fresh and dry, across wavelengths ranging from 350 to 2500 nm. For each vascular plant species, a total of nine leaf samples were measured, and for litter, a total of twelve samples were measured. For the vascular plants, the dataset also includes the species, the measured leaf side (adaxial=upper, or abaxial=lower), the measured quantity (directional-hemispherical reflectance factor, DHRF or directional-hemispherical transmittance factor, (DHTF)), the location of the sampling site (peatland name, municipality, country), the measurement date, and the sample ID. For litter, the dataset includes, in addition to the conical-conical reflectance factor (CCRF), the location of the sampling site (peatland name, municipality, country), the measurement date, whether the sample was fresh or dry, and the sample ID. For more elaborate description of the contents, see Data_description.pdf. The spectra are reported in two versions: as raw data (“_raw”) and as smoothed with Savitzky-Golay smoothing (_smoothed). The Savitzky-Golay smoothing was applied using a second order polynomial and a window size of 15 nm in the 350 to 1000 nm region, 39 nm in the 1001 to 2000 nm region and 75 nm in the 2001–2500 nm region.
