Description

The dataset contains the registered atmospheric methane (CH4) concentrations and the CH4 emissions estimated from a landfill in Tandil city, Argentina. The atmospheric CH4 concentrations (ppm) were for 10 periods of 15 days each. The air samples were collected by stainless steel containers with a volume of 0.5 liters, comprising an inlet valve and an air inlet restrictor. Besides, the CH4 fluxes from the surface of the landfill cells (g m-2 d-1) were estimated by applying the static chamber technique. Finally, the gas vents' CH4 emissions (g d-1) are shown. This was estimated using the gas tracer methodology with permeable capsules filled with SF6 installed inside each gas vent. All this information was useful for estimating the net methane emissions from the studied landfill and the potential electric energy that could be generated from the CH4 released from gas vents.
