Replication code for “Housing Market and School Choice Response to School Quality Information Shocks” Iftikhar Hussain, University of Sussex, 29 September 2023 Iftikhar.hussain@sussex.ac.uk The Stata code in this package is used create the tables for this paper. Data used for the project include housing transactions data; Ofsted school inspections data; school-level test score and demographic data; individual student-level data (used for one table in the paper, Table 3); and school choice preferences data from one London borough. GIS software was used to link housing transactions to schools using the full postcode information for the housing transaction and the school. These data can be accessed by researchers as follows: • The housing transaction data are available to download from the following UK government website: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/about-the-price-paid-data • The school inspections data are available from the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted). For the recent years these are available on the Ofsted website (https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/ofsted). For data from earlier years, I can direct researchers to officials at Ofsted in order to request these data. • The school-level (School Performance Tables) are available from the UK Department for Education via this website: https://www.gov.uk/school-performance-tables • The student-level National Pupil Database is available upon application from the UK Department for Education. Details of the application process are here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-department-for-education-dfe-personal-data • I can direct researchers to the authorities at the London borough where I obtained the parents’ school preferences data.
