Description

The decapsulated cysts of the brine shrimp Artemia franciscana were tested as a supplemental food to support populations of the predatory thrips Franklinothrips vespiformis for controlling the poinsettia thrips Echinothrips americanus in greenhouses. Populations of E. americanus and F. vespiformis were quantified on lima beans for multiple weeks in the presence or absence of supplemental food. These data were analyzed and are presented in figures 1-4 in the publication "Control of Poinsettia Thrips Echinothrips americanus on Lima Bean by Franklinothrips vespiformis Crawford using Supplemental Food." submitted to the Journal or Applied Entomology.
