Description

General psychological measures should be stable over time. In this class research we demonstrate that showing a historical documentary changes the self-evaluation of well-being an optimism, which should be stable over time (i.e. at least within an hour, or even more). The question raised by the study is to what extent an event or events, preceding the completion of trait or general measures, affect the responses on presumed stable (over time) psychological variables?

Steps to reproduce

Give trait/general an stat measure for students to complete at baseline. Present the first 20 minutes of the "Seconds from Disaster: The Forgotten Bomb (Full Documentary)" currently at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-1GOWXw8sE and have students complete the questionnaires again immediately after the documentary. Use valid statistical tests to examine the difference between the pre- and post-documentary responses. No changes should be observed on the state or general measures if they are stable/reliable over time, but state measures should change in accord with the emotional content of the documentary.
