Description

Dataset Description for Scientific Research Dataset Title: Google Search Trends on Interfaith Marriage vs. Interfaith Dating in Indonesia (2004–2024) Data Source: Google Trends (Secondary Data) DOI: 10.17632/kcchfjdrwv.1 Contributors: Muhammad Qudwatie, Mohd Yakub@ Zulkifli Mohd Yusoff, Alihanafiah Norasid Scope and Content: Time Period: January 2004–December 2024 (20 years). Analytical Variables: Relative search volume for the following keywords: "nikah beda agama" (interfaith marriage). "nikah islam kristen" (Islamic-Christian marriage). "hukum nikah beda agama" (legality of interfaith marriage). "pacaran beda agama" (interfaith dating). Trend comparison between interfaith dating and interfaith marriage. Data Format: Quantitative File: interfaith_dating_vs_interfaith_marriage_indonesia.csv (3.05 KB), containing comparative search volume data. Qualitative Files: 6 Google Trends screenshots (JPG format, total ~447 KB) visualizing search trends and legal analysis. Data Collection Method: Data extracted via Google Trends with geographic filters set to Indonesia and a time range of 2004–2024. Keywords were selected based on common Indonesian terms used to discuss interfaith marriage/dating. Research Relevance: This dataset offers insights into public interest, awareness, and concerns regarding interfaith marriage/dating in Indonesia over two decades. Enables analysis of correlations between search trends and socio-political dynamics or regulatory changes (e.g., post-law revisions). Facilitates comparative studies between interfaith dating (as a social practice) and interfaith marriage (as a legal/religious decision). Limitations and Considerations: Data reflects relative search volume, not absolute user counts. Limited to Indonesia’s internet users, potentially excluding offline populations. Does not represent actual interfaith marriage/dating practices, only public interest inferred from searches. Potential Applications: Temporal trend analysis (e.g., spikes in searches about legality after legal reforms). Regional or demographic comparisons (if combined with supplementary data). Foundation for qualitative follow-up studies (interviews, surveys) on societal perceptions. Additional Notes: The dataset includes graphical visualizations (screenshots) to aid trend interpretation.
